Drahí bratia a sestry, pozvaný hostia, sr. Marry!

Ak poviem, že strach a radosť sú pocity, ktoré nás všetkých sprevádzajú po celý život, určite mi dáte za pravdu. Prežíva ich skutočné každý, otec, matka, dieťa, kňaz, rehoľník, mladí i starší… všetci.

Tie isté pocity prežívali aj ženy z dnešného evanjelia. Ako sme počuli, prežívali pocit strachu a potom i radosti, keď našli prázdny hrob.

Pravdepodobne boli vystrašené keď nenašli Krista v hrobe a mali zvestovať správu o Jeho zmŕtvychvstaní učeníkom. Boh si vybral obyčajné ženy na to, aby zaniesli najradostnejšiu správu učeníkom. A to nielen im, ale aj nám dnes. Boh nepozeral na ich strach či neschopnosť, ale dôveroval im. Podľa evanjelií vieme, že tieto ženy nasledovali Krista už počas Jeho verejného života. Ostali mu verné a nebáli sa, že ich druhí neprijmú. Veď správe o Vzkriesení najskôr neuverili ani samotní apoštoli.

Dnes oslavujeme 25.výročie sľubov sestry Marry Etuare, ktorú Boh povolal najprv k životu a neskôr i k službe v jeho Cirkvi. Aj ona tu má svoje poslanie. Aj ona, ktorá má mnohokrát strach rovnako ako ženy z dnešného evanjelia, chce zvestovať najúžasnejšiu správu a priniesť ju dnešným ľuďom. Tou správou je Kristovo zmŕtvychvstanie.

Milá sestra Mary, práca ktorú vykonávaš je potrebná pre tento exercičný dom. Mnohokrát sú to maličkosti, ktoré ani nevnímame. Bez tvojej práce by sme však my, misionári, nemohli pokračovať ďalej.

Pri tejto službe máš možnosť stretávať sa s ľuďmi, ktorí sem prichádzajú a ty jednoducho a neformálne rozdávaš Kristovo zmŕtvychvstanie a lásku. Tvoja dobrosrdečnosť je často to, čo títo ľudia potrebujú počuť a pocítiť. Ľudia po duchovných cvičeniach často ďakujú za vás –  všetky sestry, za vašu srdečnosť, láskavosť a tichú službu.

Žijeme v dobe, ktorá nás „núti“ byť na vrchole, byť prvý, najlepší, obdivovaný, byť „osobnosťou“. Byť pravou osobnosťou znamená splniť si s láskou povinnosti, ktoré máme. Stať sa osobnosťou znamená byť verný poslaniu, ktoré máme. Zároveň nás to núti zamyslieť sa nad tým, čo urobili ženy. Mali odvahu splniť si povinnosť.

Prajem ti do ďalších rokov života v kongregácii, aby si plnila poslanie ktoré máš, nielen to pracovné, ale to najdôležitejšie poslanie, ktoré máme všetci – zvestovať svojím životom jeho zmŕtvychvstanie.

Ježiš v evanjeliu ženám hovorí aby: „šli do Galiley; tam ma uvidia“. Marry, tvoja Galilea je práve komunita v Nitre na Lukovom Dvore kde žiješ, pracuješ a kde stretávaš živého Krista. V akýkoľvek deň sa s ním môžeš stretnúť a zažiť jeho bezhraničnú lásku, ktorou ťa miluje aj vtedy, keď prežívaš strach či neistotu…

Boh ti dáva na tomto mieste nielen nás, ale aj najlepšieho priateľa človeka – Elda, ktorý ti pomáha pri tvojej službe. Cez Eldovu vernosť ti Boh chce tiež ukázať, že ťa prijíma kedykoľvek a tiež ťa vždy vytrvalo čaká – ako Eldo. Bezpodmienečná láska Boha je trvalý dar. Tento trvalý dar ti dnes hovorí: „chcem byť s tebou a podeliť sa o čokoľvek“…

Strach a radosť sú pocity, ktoré nás sprevádzajú po celý život. Nech ťa aj tvoj strach, ktorý zažívaš v rehoľnom živote – ako to hovorí exorcista Vella – upozorňuje na to, aby si nestratila Krista vo svojom živote – kongregácii, na mieste kde sa nachádzaš a kde bude tvoja Galilea. Amen.

SISTER MARY ETUARE’S SILVER JUBILEE

Gospel:                Mathieu 28, 5-15

Homily – My dear brothers and sisters, invited guests and friends of sister Mary.

I am sure that you will all agree with me when I say that fear and joy are emotions which accompany all of us throughout all our life. Father, mother, child, priest, religious, old or young: Everybody experiences these feelings.

They are the same feelings the women of today’s Gospel had. We have heard that they were at the beginning afraid but how they rejoiced, when they found the tomb empty.

Probably they felt frightened, because they did not find Christ in the grave and yet had to spread the news about his resurrection to the disciples. Jesus chose simple women to bring the most joyful news not only then to the disciples but today to us. He did not look at their fear or limitations, he simply trusted them.

According to the Gospel we know that these women followed Christ already during his public life. They remained faithful to him not afraid of being rejected by others:  not even the apostles believed the news about the resurrection.

Today we celebrate the 25th anniversary of religious Vows of sister Mary Etuare, whom God called first to life and then to the service of his Church. She too has been given a mission. She too, like the women in the Gospel, is sometimes afraid but wants to announce the most extraordinary message to the people of today: the news about Christ’s resurrection.

Dear sister Mary, the work you are doing is very important for this spiritual centre. Often it is made up of little things we hardly take notice of. But without your work we, the Missionaries of the Sacred Heart, could hardly continue.

In this your service, you meet many people who come here and give them in a non-formal and simple way the love of the risen Christ. Your kind-heartedness is most often what people need most to hear and to feel. After retreats and courses people very often thank you and all the sisters for your cordiality, goodness and humble service.

We live in a time when people want always to be first, on the top of everything, be admired and become a personality (or even a celebrity). To be a true personality means to fulfil with love the duties one has been given. It means to be faithful to one’s mission. It invites us to reflect on those women in the Gospel, who had the courage to fulfil their duty.

I wish you for the next years of your life and service of your Congregation that you may fulfil your mission not only on the working level but as the most important mission we all share in announcing the resurrection of Jesus through our life.

In the Gospel Jesus told the women “Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” Mary, your Galilee is your community in Lukov Dvor in Nitra, where you live, where you work and where you meet the living Christ. Any given day you can meet him and experience his unlimited love with which he loves you even in moments when you feel afraid or when you doubt.

God gives you in this place not only us, your sisters and brothers, but also man’s best friend: Eldo, the dog who is helping you in your service. Through its faithfulness, God wants to show you how He always accepts you and how – like Eldo – is persistently waiting for you. The unconditional love of God is a permanent gift and so he tells you today: “I want to be with you and share with you everything.”

Fear and joy are emotions which accompany us throughout our life. May the fear which you sometimes experience in religious life, as says the exorcist Father Vella, be a warning for you, never to lose Christ in your life, in your Congregation in the place where you live: in you Galilee. Amen
